I finally got myself in gear and made an appointment to see a doctor. Who was actually pretty ok?
We have plans to keep an eye on my blood pressure with a home monitor and checking back in at the beginning of March. If I officially meet the criteria for true high blood pressure and not just white coat syndrome (I'm doubtful, but she wants to make sure), the plan is to start me on medication and also get checked by a sleep specialist to confirm that it's not sleep apnea. We're both pretty sure that it's genetics because dad's got blood pressure issues though. So, meds! Weight loss was mentioned once and not as a goal, more of a "can help if it's incidental to increased cardio exercise" which, yeah maybe. But the increased cardio is probably doing a lot of the heavy lifting there bro.
We also intended to have my IUD out at that appointment but it's hiding again so I've got a referral to an actual gyn in case it's still hiding and we need to get an ultrasound involved to get it out.
My cholesterol is a little wack and so are a couple other things so it's Pay Attention To What I'm Eating time again. Which is slightly easier now that I've found a tracker that has absolutely no calorie information. Just x servings of [category]. Which is kinda nice, but I'm also gonna need to keep a close eye on my brain and my relationship with food over the next few months. At least until I can equilibriate with different ratios of vegetables & fruit. Rowing lightweight didn't exactly give me an eating disorder, but it certainly fucked up my relationship with food and with keeping track of what I'm eating.
Continuing on a personal note: took Void Cat to the vet today for her semi-annual checkup. She's overall doing well, but her weight continues to trend downwards and we'll see what her kidney function looks like when the labs get resulted. None of this is terribly surprising, she's been having kidney issues for the last two years at least. But hopefully it's just the kidney issues and that her weight stabilizes. We've got an appetite stimulant for her, which helps a lot in getting her to eat all of her food. I'm always a little worried about her, but she was an old lady when we adopted her and I knew we'd be seeing her through the end of her life. I just hope we're giving her a good one.
Fannishly I've got a lot of things going on right now. I've set myself a goal of 100 hours podficced across 100 works for my 10th podficversary. At the start of the year I had just under 87 hours and 69 works (nice). I have a spreadsheet for most of the podfics I'm planning to record for this. And since it's a lot of quick turnaround stuff, I'm focusing on blanket permission works. I've currently got 4 open slots and I'm pondering what to include. I'm trying to be more deliberate in what I'm focusing my fannish energies on these days so that's a factor in my decision making process. That and length. I can't go over 100 too early since I want to hit 100 hours on the 100th work posted on my 10th podficversary.
In addition to all that I've got a couple of actual fics planned this year, both in Star Wars because that's been eating my brain lately. One's supposedly a romcom, but currently has about 200 years of historical timeline changes for the AU to make any sense. I 100% intend to put the timeline as well as a bunch of stuff the main fic won't have room for over here since there's too much work going into this for me not to share it. The other is yet another What If No Order 66 clone wars fic, specifically looking at the rebuilding process and grief and all the unglamorous moving parts of reconstruction and recovery. There's gonna be a lot of philosophy, non-temple Jedi, Obi-Wan and Cody learning to slow the fuck down and take a break, and maybe even some of the non-Jedi force traditions popping up. Because I just realized that Baze and Chirrut are just a few (4 and 5) years younger than Obi-Wan and now I'm just imagining the chaos of that interaction. Also I love them. They're the best.
I also have like 20 hours of podfic planned for after the podficversary stuff. But that's across like 7 fics so it's fine. Some I could probably even save for ITPE, just drop a 5 hour treat on someone lmao. I should bug one of the authors for permission, I think most everything else on the list is blanket permission. (Regular reminder author friends: if you want to make a podficcer's life easy, consider adding a permission statement to your ao3 profile. It doesn't need to be a blanket yes, it can even be a blanket no! We just want to know. And if you want us to ask first, please say how and where you want to be contacted.)
A much larger project will be organizing my hosting file structure so it's easier for me to find my links, updating all my posts, and also figuring out why streaming is broken for me. I've got a vague idea, but I need to actually do something about it. I'd also like to cross-post everything to here that hasn't been as well as maybe to amplificathon since it looks like that's going to start existing again. I do want my works to not be solely on ao3.
