Spring of Women
After a conversation about the dearth of long-form femslash and lady-centric podfic I got to thinking; what if I set a goal for myself to only produce and consume lady-centric works for the entirety of spring. Now, I've got a couple things already in the works and, to an extent, they will be my only exceptions.
So from March 20th through June 21st I will be:
I'm also going to try to leave feedback beyond just kudos and possibly do round-ups of things that I've liked over the past week. But not guarantees about that.
I've got a decent idea of where I want to start but if anyone has recs for fic, podfic, or fandoms please throw them my way!
So from March 20th through June 21st I will be:
- reading fic only if the main/POV character is a woman or genderqueer
- this will start by being limited to canon!women characters and if I start getting desperate to the end I may expand to rule 63'd canon-male characters
- canon!male characters who are genderqueer or trans women in the fic are also included
- basically: no always-a-cis-girl-canon-dude fic if I can
- eta: Oh! also not reading things where a canon!woman is rule 63'd into a dude. I will accept more women than canon, not less.
- exploring new-to-me canons or revisiting ones I haven't touched in ages that are about women. Bonus if it's about women and created by a woman/women.
- focusing on creating works that are femslash or are non-romantic and centered around a woman's story
- this also includes art. I want to draw more women than I have lately. Ok, I want to DRAW more period, but specifically women.
- The only exceptions I will be making are:
- editing (not recording) for my extreme podfic big bang. I've got 3 hours of audio recorded for it already and another this weekend, any more can wait to July.
- recording and editing a ~3hr collaborative podfic with
intransitive
I'm also going to try to leave feedback beyond just kudos and possibly do round-ups of things that I've liked over the past week. But not guarantees about that.

Ginyoko no Fam: awesome female cast, possible pairings up to OT5 (?)
Utena! (Juri! Anthy! Utena! Nanami! etc)
Witch Hunter Robin is a female led cast, I het ship it, but there are definitely femslash options
Kuragehime (female cast + cross dressing guy, fandom typically focuses on him tho)
Cordelia's Honor - I het ship this obvs. but it's one of my fav books and anything about Cordelia is amazing.
Sound of Music - ditto above.
K-On, it's a female centric show and there's definitely shipping potential/ship-bait in the show (it's moe tho)
Homestuck: Kanaya/Rose (+ huge cast with lots of ladies)
Attack on Titan: Christa/Ymir (side characters, cannon relationship)
Sanctuary has some awesome female characters, dunno what fic there is but maybe some good Magnus gen?
Dark Angel fem lead cast and cannon lesbian bff side character
Vocaloid - has female characters (main characters?) Miku/Luka or other combinations.
AGENT CARTER :D
Magic School Bus!
? Kino's Journey (depending on how you interpret Kino's gender identity)
Fandoms to look into:
Gundam Wing: Dorothy Relena
Attack on Titan: Annie/Mikasa
Last Exile: Tatiana/Alister need more love/stuff about them! (there’s nothing, I’m just wishing)
Star Driver - Wako centric fic (she's part of a m/f/m OT3 but there's probably some thinky gen out there?)
PlanetES, there's gotta be some good Ai focused fic (I know I've podficced at least one), also I have such a crush on Fee
...I'll have more later :)

Also can't believe I didn't originally think of:
- Puella Magi Madoka Magica is definitely female centric, and so much femslash potential/shippy-ness. It's also super dark, with major twists and makes many people cry so forewarning. It's also got a decent sized fandom I think?
- Tamora Pierce has some fic for her work, but cannons are all awesome female-centric stories! :D
- Tokyo 8.0 is one of my fav. animes of late. It's super good, geologically accurate, and the last ~3 eps had me bawling like a baby so warning for tragedy, but it's got 2 amazing central female characters, one's the main character, another is a well developed central-focus supporting character.
- Orphan Black, if you haven't seen it, it's really good, lots of female characters, 1 set of whom are in a romantic relationship with each other. Haven't looked into the fandom beyond vids tho.
- if you're looking for RPF, there's TSwift/Karlie Kloss, or KStew/Charlize.
